Carpentaria Shire Council is offering an opportunity for the right individual to fill the position of Accountant. This position is designed to equip you with the technical know-how and confidence to help shape the future of local government.

This is the accessible outback - Where the Outback meets the Sea ^® - with access to the townships of Normanton and Karumba either via commercial flights or driving on the sealed highways from Cairns, Townsville or Mount Isa.

About the Opportunity

In addition to assisting with the development, planning, coordinating, compilation and preparation of annual budgets and financial statements, you will assist with the financial administration of Council controlled entities such as the Les Wilson Barramundi Discovery Centre, Visitor Information Centre's, Aquatic Facilities and Child Care.

You'll require a bachelor’s degree or higher in Accounting or Commerce (Accounting Major) or be an undergraduate in your final year of study.

A current ‘C’ class driver's licence is essential for this position.
