This is your opportunity to join Carpentaria Shire Council and be part of a dynamic and motivated team working in a great environment. We are seeking a Diesel Fitter/Mechanic to assist in servicing and maintaining all fixed and mobile plant operated by Council.

Light or Heavy Vehicle Mechanics, Fixed Plant Fitters and Mobile Plant Mechanics are strongly encouraged to apply for this position. Council takes pride in offering professional development opportunities and is willing to upskill the right candidate.

To secure this role,  you will need good diagnostic skills, be safety orientated and have a positive attitude. You will also require:

• A Mechanical Trade Certificate;
• HR Licence (preferred);
• The ability to complete jobs in a timely manner;
• The ability to foresee possible issues with machines and take actions to prevent failures; and
• A keen interest in continually learning and developing within the trade.

The position will be based at Council’s Normanton Depot but will be required to work at various other locations and camp sites throughout the Shire. As such, you must have the capacity and willingness to drive unaccompanied for long distances in remote areas.
