About the Opportunity
Are you looking for a unique opportunity with a progressive local government in North Queensland?
Carpentaria Shire Council has an exciting opportunity for a Rural Lands Officer to be responsible for the delivery of activities and programs associated with pest management, weed management, biosecurity and maintenance of Council controlled land.
Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, your responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to, the following:
- Management of declared pests, including coordination of the annual 1080 baiting program;
- Identification, monitoring and control of pests and weeds within the Shire; and
- Undertake chemical control of declared weeds.
To be considered, you must be able to work autonomously and have the capacity and willingness to drive unaccompanied for long distances in remote areas.
Carpentaria Shire Council will reward your commitment with an attractive base salary, locality allowance, plus six weeks annual leave per year.
