Trainee - Water and Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator (Normanton or Karumba Based)

This is a unique opportunity to gain skills and experience working with our Water Treatment Plant Operators.

What does a Water and Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator do?

Water and Wastewater Plant Operators control the pumping of water for supply and storage. They treat water to purify it or to remove waste in order to meet various national standards.

You will be enrolled in a Certificate III in Water Industry Operations. This general qualification covers the skills required to operate in a broad range of water operations. It is a nationally recognised qualification which means it is valid in all states of Australia.

We are looking for someone who.......

  • Has a Year 10 School Certificate or equivalent combination of study/work/life experience.
  • Is motivated and keen to learn.
  • Can follow instructions and take direction.
  • Communicates well and is a team player.
  • Has an understanding of Work, Health and Safety principles.
  • Has a minimum Class C manual drivers' licence.
  • Has a General Construction Industry Induction Card (White Card) or the ability to obtain.

In order to succeed in this position,  you will also need.....

  • A good attendance record at either work or school.
  • The ability to undertake formal study (during work hours) in conjunction with on the job training.
  • Be able to participate in a weekend call-out roster once substantial progression in the traineeship has been made.
