Apprentice Plumber

We are currently looking for an Apprentice Plumber for a nominal term of four years.

 

What does an Apprentice Plumber do?

An apprentice plumber is an entry level plumber working under the guidance of a more experienced tradesman. Apprentices perform many of the same tasks that veteran plumbers do, including installing new plumbing fixtures, unclogging plumbing systems and repairing pipes. They may handle easier jobs on their own and act as a helper on more complex jobs.

As an apprentice plumber, you will work in a variety of locations from public buildings and staff housing to remote work camps within the Shire. 

Apprentice plumbers are enrolled in a Certificate III in Plumbing and are required to attend study blocks at TAFE.

  • Paid TAFE fees, accommodation and travel related expenses while in Cairns
  • Learning a trade while being paid
  • Supplied uniform and personal protective equipment
  • Supportive mentoring and coaching from experienced tradespeople and specialist Registered Training Organisations.

In order to succeed in this position, you must have:

  • A good attendance record at either work or school
  • A good work ethic and the ability to accept direction
  • Be able to demonstrate that you are a good team player.
