About the Opportunity
Carpentaria Shire Council has a fantastic opportunity for a full time Media, Communications and Grants Officer join the team in Normanton, QLD.
Working directly for the Office of the Mayor and Chief Executive Officer, this newly created position is responsible for promoting effective communication from Council to the community and for liaising with the media. This position is also responsible for sourcing and facilitating funding and grant opportunities for Council and groups within the community.
We are looking for someone who:
- Has great knowledge of media, communications and grant writing activities;
- Has exceptional presentation skills;
- Has an understanding of the programs and activities delivered by Councils to communities; and
- Is able to identify media opportunities that furthers Council's engagement and interaction with the community.
To succeed, you'll need a tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline or substantial experience in a similar role. You'll also need a high level of computer literacy with the ability to manage social media and website platforms.
Carpentaria Shire Council is seeking a candidate who is confident with all facets of publicity assignments and has experience in dealing with a wide and varied range of stakeholders. Ideally, you'll have a solid understanding of the environment in which local government operates.
