Carpentaria Shire Council is offering an opportunity for the right individual to fill the position of Manager Finance and Administration. Council is seeking a committed team member who will be dedicated in assisting management in delivering financially sustainable services, efficient allocation of resources, as well as managing infrastructure to improve the social well being of those living in the region.

This is the accessible outback - Where the Outback meets the Sea ® - with access to the townships of Normanton and Karumba either via commercial flights or driving on the sealed highways from Cairns or Mt Isa.

About the Opportunity

This management position is responsible to the Director Corporate Services and plays a critical role in shaping the overall financial performance of Council through the effective management of the Finance and Administration Section and fostering key relationships with Senior Council staff, Councillors and external stakeholders. As an inspiring leader and natural communicator, your ability to build confidence and credibility will play a vital role in ensuring you quickly develop strong stakeholder engagement and trust.

To be successful in this role you will hold degree-level qualifications in accounting or related field, ideally with CPA/CA membership. You will already have proven yourself at a senior financial management/accounting level within the  local government environment. You will possess a vast array of qualities - in particular, being an inspirational people leader, having strong commitment to the development of an engaged organisational culture, a commercial approach, well-developed relationship skills and a standout passion for service excellence. You will be working closely with members of the senior leadership team, enabling you to have the opportunity to participate in a wide range of projects across the entire organisation.
